Caulfield Grammarians Football Club, along with the rest of the Caulfield Grammarians community, is saddened by the passing of one of our life members and team of the century players Ron Ashbolt.
Ron played over 100 games for the Fields from 1947 to 1958. He captained our U/19’s in 1949 before joining St Kilda in the VFL. Ron returned to Captain the Fields in 1953 where he lead us to a C Grade Premiership, with a nail biting 2 point win over Power House.
A powerful player and a wonderful leader, Ron lead the club until 1957 and coached the team in 1956. A B&F winner in 1955, Ron also represented the VAFA in state football. He only retired after 1958 when he married his wife Joan. Ron continued to be a supporter of the club through the rest of his life, including coaching his son Malcolm in the U/19s.
Our thoughts and sympathies are with Joan, Kyla, Lynne and the rest of the Ashbolt family.
