Training is back!
Monday 1 June saw a significant milestone after an incredibly challenging period for all with the recommencement of training for our Club at Glenhuntly Oval.
In very ordinary conditions, our Women’s teams returned to the track – Tuesday sees the Men return in groups of 20 and under the AFL Vic protocols. The players are incredibly excited about getting togther again and playing the game the sport they love.
At this stage, we are unsure when a season might start, the rules related to it and there is varying thoughts on this. The key for all leagues is to have some certainty (or as best we can) as to a likely date. The papers this morning have suggested mid July so some time around then would allow a “half season” to get under way with potential finals. Matters around Promotion and Relegation are still unknown.
Throughout the lockdown, it has been fantastic to see how the players have kept fit and support each other. The momentum from last year has carried through.
I hope everyone has been watching and listening to the CGFC Podcast from Flana’s, Loges and Gotchy. It is incredible to see the talent that is associated with CGS/CGFC and the guests such as Brendon Goddard, Dylan Shiels and Chris Judd have been outstanding. Well done team on keeping us connected through the iso period! Look forward to the next episode.
Although training has started, I would remind everyone that we still need to stay safe, and practice our social distancing – so whilst it would be nice to see come faces at training, please don’t come just yet. We an't wait to get all our community together again one day in the future. As soon as we are given the OK we will advise.
Hope you are all well, and see you soon.”
Go Fields!
