The Caulfield Grammarians Football Club committee is delighted to announce that Simon Williams will continue as senior men’s coach for the 2022 season. Also staying the course are key assistants Marcel Bruin and Luke Thwaites.
Simon was appointed in to CGFC in 2016, after a hugely successful career as player and coach at Old Brighton, and has taken the Fields from Premier C into qualifying for finals in Premier A in 2021. Along his journey with the fields he has developed a wonderful group of young men that, on top of winning promotions, also claimed the 2019 Premier B Premiership.
Marcel Bruin, a former Casey Scorpions player, also carved out a successful VAFA career at Old Brighton and joined the Fields in 2016 with Simon. He has been crucial in the development of the squad and instrumental in the success that has been achieved over the past 5 years.
Luke Thwaites, also a former Scorpion, joined the Fields as a player in 2017 and retired in 2019. Joining the coaching panel this season he has been a fantastic addition and the club is thrilled he will continue in 2022.
Club President Will Bowes said, "We are fortunate to have all three of these wonderful men recommit to the Fields. As a club we were incredibly proud of our team's efforts and growth in 2021 and feel like there is unfinished business to attend to in 2022. Locking away these key positions is a crucial step towards our preparation for next season".
Further announcements of coaching positions will be communicated in the coming weeks.
