Final Home Game Luncheon - Celebrating 2011 & 2002 Premierships
The Final home game luncheon of the 2022 season will occur on Saturday the 27th August upstairs at Glenhuntly. This luncheon will be a special occasion celebrating the 2011 B Grade Men's Seniors Premiership and the 2002 C Grade Men's Reserves premierships.
In 2011 with Coach Steve Lawrence and Captain Simon Widjaja the men's senior team had a dominant season to take out the B Section flag and secure a return to A Section for the first time since the mid eighties. The senior team won the second semi-final against St Kevins 13.13 to 10.9 and the Grand Final against St Bernards 17.12 to 12.9. Best players in the Grand Final were Mark Liddell, James Shanahan, Stef Garrubba, Sam Wood, Ryan Lewis and Justin Perkins. Justin Perkins kicked 5 goals and Gav Winter and Clay Johnston 2 each. The day was highlighted even further when Mark Liddell won the Ian Cordner Medal for best on ground. 11 years on this great achievement will be recognised at this luncheon.
Whilst in the 2002 season the Fields had brilliant year with the clubs second ever reserves premiership. With Club great Martin Di Crosta as coach and skipper John Jacobs the Fields beat Old Camberwell Grammarians by 26 points at Elsternwick Park, 9.11 (65) to 5.9 (39) to win the 2002 C Reserves Section Grand Final. Caulfield led all day after a strong first quarter into the breeze. Mark Pennycuick was voted best on ground.
It promises to be a great afternoon at Glenhuntly celebrating these achievements before the Fields take on Old Scotch in the big game.
