1970 & 1961 Premiership Reunion Lunch
The 1970 Senior A Grade premiership holds a very special place in the history of the Caulfield Grammarians Football Club being the only A grade premiership in the clubs history to date.
The team is legendary being coached by club great John Wilson and littered with Team of the Century stars – Greg Tootell, Tony Pyman, Geoff Fox, John Long, Tony Lester, Barry Morphett and John Butcher.
The 1970 grand final was a classic with the fields coming up against the minor premiers and 1969 champions, Coburg, the Fields dominated from the outset and led by 39 points at three quarter time. While the Fields arguably put the cue in the rack at that point, the game was far from over as Coburg piled on eight goals to two in a blistering fourth quarter. The Fields managed to hold on in our greatest grand finals moment for an amazing two-point victory – to this day the closest A Section margin in VAFA history.
This luncheon will pay tribute to this achievement 50+2 years on.
The 1961 D Grade Premiership will also be recognised 60+1 years on.
Enjoy a delicious 2 course luncheon by Seeds Fine Foods before the big game against Old Brighton.
