Dear Grammarian,
I am writing to inform you of some significant changes at the Caulfield Grammarians Cricket Club (CGCC) for season 2008/2009.
The Club has entered into an agreement with the North Caulfield Glenhuntly Cricket Club to share resources, players and facilities. The NCGCC is based at Glenhuntly Oval (the home of the Caulfield Grammarians Football Club) and its senior sides play in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association. The Club has a long, proud history and this is a wonderful opportunity for Grammarians to play cricket in a more, professional ‘club’ environment.
It is proposed that for this season that the NCGCC will play under this name in the VTCA (on Saturdays) and under the CGCC in the MCC Club XI (on Sundays). Subject to the agreement of both Clubs this may lead to a formal merger at some stage in the future. Three Grammarians (Grant Poulter, Chris Mathieson and Matthew Scholten) have been elected to the NCGCC board.
NCGCC has never had a ‘feeder’ and as such player numbers have fallen. We have the opportunity to assist with numbers and promotion. Obviously the attraction for the CGCC is the prospect of a ‘home’ – something that the Club has not had in the past.
The facilities at Glenhuntly Oval are first class with new practice wickets recently installed and an excellent wicket and playing surface.
I urge any Grammarian cricketer to consider joining the Club this season. For further information, please contact either Matthew Scholten (matthew_scholten@godfreypembroke.com.au / 0411875161) or Grant Poulter (GrantPoulter@caulfieldgs.vic.deu.au / 0421200525).
Best Wishes
Matthew Scholten
