Another week and another blog. Quickly this blog is becoming a world constant, up there with the likes of the sun rising and falling each day, subcontinent cricket matches being called off early due to bad light, soccer players faking injuries, politicians telling mis-truths, Madonna wearing little-to-no clothing in her film-clips, and St.Kilda Footy Club losing. Yes, the Caulfield Grammarian Blog is in quite prominent company. Does it bother me? Not in the slightest! Last Saturday wasn't the best day for the club as a whole. Our one win came as a result of a forfeit, and in the other games we never really were within much of a chance, apart from the Seniors, who had a strong third and fourth quarter yet still lost by a comfortable 20-odd point as the hands of Old Camberwell. Not to worry, this week presents another challenge. As Bill Clinton said, there's nothing wrong with the Caulfield Grammarian footy teams that can't be fixed by what is right with the Caulfield Grammarian footy sides. That's right, Bill Clinton has an opinion on our club. Beware female trainers! What I think Bill was talking about was that though there may be some shortcomings within each side, the persistence, courage and resilience within the sides will render the shortcomings ineffective. Or something like that, I wasn't really listening. The 19's are going well though, that's for sure. Sitting about as pretty as Jennifer Hawkins in 3rd position on the ladder, the boys come up against the Megan Gale of the competition in the undefeated Ormond on the weekend. They won't be easy competition, but the Grammarians are coming like Miranda Kerr, and maybe Ormond are leaving top spot after Saturday. I remain as toey as a roman sandle about that clash. Speaking of the Ladies, on Saturday it's the magnificent Ladies Luncheon at Pressure Park. Bring along a lady to the luncheon, and it should be a good event, as long as the ladies don't end up like those on the 'Ladette to Lady' TV program. They really love a drink or two that bunch. But there's nothing wrong with that I guess. Each to their own. George Best famously said that he spent a lot of money on booze, birds and cars, and the rest he wasted. After watching Manchester United get up this morning, The Blog is going to take the same stance on life as my hero George and spend all my money on booze, cars and birds. Yep, I'm off to buy a six-pack, a ferrari, and a cockatoo.
