The season opener against Monash Blues was eagerly anticipated with the added flavour of having played the Blues in our final practice match two weeks earlier. At that time we came away with a 7 goal win but it was a practice match and we knew Monash would strengthen their line-up. We too had some changes and included half a dozen different faces including two VFL rookie players. |

Not since the new series of Beverly Hills 90210, has Pressure Park been gripped with such a sense of excitement. Fortunately this sense of anticipation was justified with an impressive first up victory for the Reserves. In fact it was probably the best opening act since Lady Gaga announced she was supporting the Pussycat Dolls on their current world tour. |

The eagerly anticipated first round of the season saw Caulfield Grammarians encounter a road-trip to Glen Waverly to meet Mazenod Collegians. With many new players, as well as a new coach, the team was unsure what to expect first up from Mazenod. With nearly a full strength team Caulfield came out of the blocks firing with an eight goal to none first quarter, characterised by winning hard contested footy, to set the tempo for the remainder of the game. |

The long awaited round 1 clash for the clubbies was at Elsternwick Park. On arrival I think a few of the boys were reconsidering our decision to play there instead of home on the Sunday. I think a few guys might have forgotten just how big the ground was, and we didn’t expect the whole ground to resemble a cricket pitch. |

The final practice match commitments were completed against Monash with U19’s, Reserves and Seniors performing solidly and no serious injuries incurred. |
