Our return match against St Bedes Mentone was much anticipated by the group as we had been waiting since round 1 to exact some revenge for our narrow loss against them. As we all trundled down to Southern Rd oval (there was some confusion as this was now the third venue change for this match) we knew we would have to play at our best in what was a game that if we won would entrench us in the four. The makeshift change rooms (garage, complete with roller door and hose and container that looked as though it had recently been used to siphon petrol) were a little cramped, and in the absence of Shippy, Jess, stepped up and strapped like a seasoned professional. Will Rowsthorn was a late withdrawal and big Patto came in. |

The worst Saturday weather since last Saturday greeted Oakleigh to Pressure Park as cyclonic winds forced Luke Matias to apply a second tub of hair gel just minutes before kick off. It was affecting all of us in different ways as Towny was heard commenting that the wind "is worth 10 goals, but so strong it's worth nothing..." In actual fact I haven't seen anything blow that hard since.... well you get the picture. Oakleigh had first use of the squall and we knew that only a huge effort would restrict the scoring. A monumental coup it was to keep the other mob to just the single goal and we felt as if we had won the quarter even without troubling the scorers. It was a textbook display of smart football and relentless team pressure and most pleasing to see the Fields adjust to conditions so quickly, which had so often been our downfall this season. |

Caulfield under 19s were hell-bent on revenging their round six 86 point loss in what was shaping as a season defining match for the boys from the racecourse. Caulfield are yet to defeat a top four side this season, but arguably had their best side since round 1, including four boys from the school, Tim Nixon, Hugo Gates, Andre Lister and Jake Tobias. |

In the anticipated return clash, the aim was to take revenge for the significant and only loss to date for the season. We certainly presented an improved line-up over that of the previous encounter. The strong wind was blowing almost directly to the Neerim Road end and in the old days would have been worth say 10 goals. |

At the expansive main oval at Monash University we encountered our first wintry day for what seemed like many seasons. A couple of forced changes to the line-up would again be able to attest to our depth. |

After what felt like a month of away games, the Caulfield reserves returned to Glenhuntly to face Parkdale. With a number of forced changes after the strong win against Beaumaris, we lost regular senior players Strain, Colosimo, Docker and Jones, all deservedly promoted, while a late change saw Franny McArdle finally get a run after the other 9 C Grade sides put in a transfer request for his services. With the Under 19s having a bye we were lucky to have Dean Spanos and Zach Parsons as very handy inclusions. Luke Spinks also returned after a hamstring & swine flu. |

With a number of changes to the line-up from round 9, most of which were forced, Andy Strain, Gav Colosimo and Cal Jones had served time in the Reserves and deserved their return. Alex Ford also returned after a week off from concussion. Some winter ills played their part in some of the forced changes. Fran McArdle had been rewarded for his consistency in the seconds and eagerly awaited his first senior game. |

Round nine saw the U19's greet our most fiercest of rivals, Old Brighton, to Glen Huntly oval. After a disappointing last few weeks, hopes were high for a turn-around in form with the inclusions of Linklater and Elkington, however Small was a late withdrawal with the flu, and Parsons continued to impress in the seniors. |
