An electrifying last quarter saw Caulfield step up to the plate this week again at Mentone Playing Fields but this time winning over Beaumaris. Caulfield repeated similar efforts to last week but were required to play out the full four quarters and raise the intensity in order to steal victory in the final quarter.

A determined Caulfield never gave up all day despite being down at three quarter time, to finish off in strongest fashion and scoring 6.5 in the last quarter and keeping Beaumaris to scoring one behind. The cream certainly rose to the top in the last quarter as all areas of the ground performed well for Caulfield. Individual performances came no better than Clay Johnston, Mark Nelson and Alex Ford in the midfield, who were assisted by strong efforts from Clay Williams, Andrew Simmons, Luke Tamblyn, Luke Spinks, Jake Whitford and Dylan Tobias. While the play began in the centre, Paul McGlashan was sensational in the forward line and was always going to be the man who could be the match-winner. McGlashan was the key to the win in the end, with most of his 5 goals coming late in the game and inspiring the boys to continue to the control and run. McGlashan co-starred alongside Meredith and Hyman, while our defence was rock solid. Dave Allanson and James Foote held the defence, as we also welcomed back Mark Nelson and Simon Reid who played pivotal roles. Injuries began to strike late in the game, while a fired up Beaumaris decided to stake their claim at three quarter time using their mouth. However this tactic backfired as Caulfield became hungrier with their approach on attacking the ball, with more vigour and fierceness. It was a fantastic win after an ugly start to the game, but it means we include another one on the trot to our winning list. Round 17 next week vs. Mazenod at Glenhuntly Oval.
