OLD ESSENDON 16.14. 110 def CAULFIELD GRAMMARIANS 2.10. 22 Goal Kickers: G. Colosimo, G. Poulter Best Players: E. Kalaja, M. Murphy, A. Spittal, S. Garrood, J. McCahon, B. Scott Coming off the back of a superb win which had rejuvenated the Reserves self belief and winning mentality, the $64,000 question was, quite simply, would the momentum carry on as we journeyed out to the windy plains of Essendon? Throughout the week both the quality and intensity of training had lifted noticeably. You could not help but feel the year was going to end the way in which we had envisaged at the beginning of the season. It was going to be a tough ask against a formidable OEG outfit, but as Bustling Blair Hall would say ‘Anything is possible in amateur footy’. |

CAULFIELD GRAMAMRIANS 9.13. 67 def BEAUMARIS 8.5. 55 Goal Kickers: P. McGlashan 5, A. Ford, D. Hyman, M. Nelson, C. Johnston Best Players: A. Ford, P. McGlashan, M. Nelson, J. Whitford, C. Johnston, D. O’Keefe An electrifying last quarter saw Caulfield step up to the plate this week again at Mentone Playing Fields but this time winning over Beaumaris. Caulfield repeated similar efforts to last week but were required to play out the full four quarters and raise the intensity in order to steal victory in the final quarter. |

CAULFIELD GRAMMARIANS 13.7. 85 def OLD CAREY 9.5. 59 Goal Kickers: G. Poulter 6, J. McCahon 3, N. Dorman 2, B. Scott, J. Beveridge Best Players: J. Wearne, A. Wolkow, W. Bowes, G. Poulter, S. Garrood, J. McCahon If the Caulfield Reserves were ever going to climb off the bottom, the ascent had to start this week. With the wooden spoon being the prize for losing, winning was our only option. Reason wasn’t something hard for us to find. With William Bowes, otherwise known affectionately as ‘Bowesy’, donning the blue and white for the 200th time, this was all the reason we needed. The reason to win was hammered home with a few words from team mentor Geoff Reilley. If we all played with the tenacity, passion and relentlessness of our beloved Captain then a win would be a formality, right?

CAULFIELD GRAMMARIANS 21.17. 143 def OLD BRIGHTON 5.16. 46
Goal Kickers: C. Sinclair 8, C. Game 4, S. Meredith 3, A. Simmons, F. McArdle, T. Baker, J. McCahon, T. Sundberg, L. Tamblyn Best Players: D. Allanson, T. Baker, L. Spinks, D. Tobias, C. Penberthy, A. Simmons
The Caulfield Grammarians Under 19s achieved a momentous victory for the club on the weekend against school rivals Old Brighton at home. The 97 point defeat was a truly hard-fought, scintillating performance that will go very far to helping Caulfield continue their campaign for a top two position on the ladder, with still a number of challenging games left in the season. The eleventh win for the season unfortunately came at a cost of a couple of sore, injured bodies.

ST BERNARDS 22.15. 147 def CAULFIELD GRAMMARIANS 10.8. 68 Goal Kickers: A. Slevison 3, B. Carboni 2, B. Evans, C. Hammond, G. Winter, A. Sinclair, R. Picking Best Players: J. May, M. Sundberg, B. Carboni, A. Wolkow, C. Hammond, S. Widjaja After a terrible performance against St-Kevins we were looking to atone against St Bernards, a team who had only narrowly beaten us earlier in the year. After a number of discussions throughout the week the playing group had decided to take greater ownership of our destiny and promised to play a more accountable brand of football. Unfortunately Wij failed to take ownership of the coin-toss which allowed the Snowdogs to start the game kicking into a howling breeze!

CAULFIELD GRAMMARIANS 9.14. 68 def ORMOND 7.8. 50
Goal Kickers: C. Johnston 4, B. Price 2, C. Sinclair, F. McArdle, T. Sundberg Best Players: C. Johnston, A. Simmons, D. Tobias, T. Baker, D. Allanson, L. Spinks
The team got off to a slow start, kicking against the wind in the opening term against Ormond. The strength of the wind certainly played a key role at the beginning of the match, and skills probably reflected a lack of care in these conditions early in the game by us but our ferocity and toughness at the ball was apparent throughout this stage. |

Goal kickers – Carboni 6, Royle 2, Slevison 2, A Sinclair, D Daly, T Siundberg Better player – M Sundberg, Carboni, T Sundberg, Hammond, Meredith, Hyland With limited vision from the hopeless time keeper’s position, looking squarely into the sun and at one extreme of the park, I offer a very limited report! I along with others felt there would be a real strong effort against SKOBS having won the earlier encounter in the season and knowing that their need for points was not as great as ours. |
